Job Description
Software Developer - £26,000 - £30,000 DOE - Monday - Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm - Manchester City Centre
Job Summary:
To assist the IT Manger in the continued development and support of the Communications infrastructure. To assist in the development, testing and the documentation of all software developed by the department.
Main Duties:
" Assist in the design and development of all applications produced by the department.
" Demonstrate web application(s) to staff as required.
" Support all applications developed by the department including other in house systems.
" Create and Update all software documentation as the applications are developed.
" Basic support IT/Communications Hardware and liaising with contracted support companies where required.
" Testing all internally developed applications.
The Candidate:
" The candidate will be educated to degree level in a Software development related course.
" Microsoft Certified qualifications - desirable but not essential
" The candidate will possess experience in a commercial environment developing windows and web based applications in MS Visual Studio 2000/2008 and SQL Server databases
" Experience of working in the financial or legal service industries is preferable

" The candidate will possess a good understanding of Object Oriented Programming;
" Experience of using UML;
" Experience of SQL Server 200-2008 R2 (Enterprise Level), including, SQL, Stored Procedures, DTS Packages;
" .Net 3.5;
" Component Oriented Programming;
" ASP.net (C#), MS Visual Studio;
" Web technologies;
" Experience of rewriting old software systems would be beneficial;
" Experience of SSIS and replication;

" The candidate will have the ability to work within a team as well as independently, and will be expected to take ownership of projects allocated and be able to deliver them from conception to delivery;
" The candidate must be self motivated and self disciplined with a proven track record of delivering projects on time, whilst confirming to 'best practice' development procedures and protocols'
" The candidate will be expected to put forward ideas and contribute new ideas within the team and should also have excellent problem solving skills with the ability to approach problems from new and imaginative perspectives.
" The candidate will be able to demonstrate a dependable and reliable commitment to work
