Job Description

Fixed term until 31 March 2014 South Cheshire

Supporting people with mental health problems in either community or supported housing settings, you’ll provide them with all the emotional and practical assistance they need. Highly motivated and enthusiastic, you’ll empower them to maximise their potential with a focus on individuality and independence.

As Support Worker, you will:

  • Act as a keyworker to allocated service users ensuring they have up to date and complete support plans addressing their individual needs
  • Advise on tenancy issues, welfare benefits, financial and budgeting matters
  • Support service users in the development of personal and life skills, including community involvement
  • Develop close links with the local community, promoting a greater understanding of mental health issues
  • Work closely with relevant statutory and voluntary organisations, making sure clients are referred to appropriate agencies for advice and counselling

To join us as a Support Worker, you’ll need:

  • Experience of working with a diverse group of people with mental health conditions in either a supported housing or community based setting
  • Working experience of managing challenging situations and supporting clients to gain insight into their mental health
  • Practical knowledge of developing recovery focused support plans, risk assessments,  benefits, medication, budgeting, housing and social inclusion
  • A good skill base in IT and report writing
  • Ability to work as part of the team and on your own initiative
  • Full driving licence and use of own car

Satisfactory references and an enhanced CRB will be required.
