Job Description
Vacancy - Job Title: 2 x Technical Authors
Location: Derby Status: Permanent
Salary: £25-30K
SUMMARY
Technical Authors are required to work on Aero Engine Documentation based at our office in Derby. Authors may be working on existing project documentation to revise and update to current standards or be involved in creating original documentation for new projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technical Author will be expected to investigate source data, and working closely with Technical Illustrators, write and illustrate draft documentation and produce final deliverables for review by the customer.
They must be able to work to designated timescales according to the project schedule and maintain the level of quality required by the customer.
REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience of technical authoring or working within a technical writing environment, especially in the aerospace industry, would be preferred however consideration will be given to applicants with experience in other electro mechanical engineering and Automotive areas.
Authors must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as process descriptions, procedure manuals, technical drawings, and CAD generated images. And be able to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Knowledge of ATA specifications and AECMA S1000D would be preferred but is not essential.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
All applicants must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel and must be familiar with basic email and internet communications.
A practical knowledge of SGML, XML, and Arbortext and use of Epic Editor or similar software is desirable but consideration will be given to applicants without this.
Applicants must be permitted to work in the UK - hold a current valid work permit or work visa if required, ensuring that all documentation is current, valid and meet all legal requirements to work in the UK.
