Reference :M&HS-00703
Faculty / Organisational unit :Medical & Human Sciences
School / Directorate :Faculty Office - MHS
Division :MHS Academic Administration
Salary : £29,099 to £35,788
Employment type :Permanent
Hours per week :Full Time
Location :Oxford Road
The strategic aim of the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences is to produce biomedical research of the highest quality that has impact beyond academia and yields economic, social and cultural benefits. Alongside this the MAHSC Global Health Initiative recognises that in a global economy, health is global, and one country’s health issues will, sooner or later, be another’s. It has established a number of work streams that include introducing Global Health into the medical and nursing undergraduate curricula, research and research capacity building in low/middle income countries and addressing the university’s social responsibility programme.
The post holder will work with the Lead for Global Health to coordinate and drive forwards these work streams so that within five years we will have established a nationally and internationally recognised Centre for Global Health.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team that will lead on the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that seek to deliver a transformational increase to the profile, grant income and research outputs of the Faculty over the next 5 years. The FMHS Research Deanery will bring together a team of experienced senior research coordinators to: facilitate co-ordination and implementation of the emerging Faculty research strategy; develop and support collaborative research interactions within and across faculties and with external partners; develop high-quality interactions with external funding agencies; promote integrative working at the basic science/a clinical interface and coordinating technology and methodology platforms to ensure they are managed efficiently and are accessible to all staff.
Candidates should be highly organised and will combine a strong science/health/global health/managementbackground, ideally with experience of working in a strategic role within a funding organisation and an understanding of how to link researchers across academic boundaries.
